When looking for jobs in the Voice Over industry it can sometimes get a
bit overwhelming. Below is a list of 5 places where you can look for new
clients and jobs in the world of Voice Overs:
1. Advertising Agencies
This is a group of creative people that create messages for
clients that carry messages to an audience. The people you want to talk to are
the people involved in audio and video production: Creative director,
President, Vice Creative Director.
2. Public Relations Firms
They create messages aimed to services and ideas (ie. Fund
raising, community awareness Long form audio, video). The people to talk to
here are the Vice President of Business Development or Communications.
3. Cable Television Outlets
They are based on a contract between municipality and the
cable company. They are in charge of the Public Access Station and Educational
Station for the community. They must provide a local production station and
producer, so the cable company where that public access station is provides
local advertising. Search for 'Cable Television Regional Studios' (cable
television, media sales, cable production). Here the people to talk to are the
General Sales Manager or Production Manager. May be lower pay, but its a good
place to gain experience and may lead to lots of smaller jobs.
4. Telephone Services
These telephone companies provide welcoming messages and
prompts/on hold messaging. Look for: 'Telephone Interconnect Company.' The
people to talk to here are the Director of Sales or VP of Sales.
5. Audio books
You have to maintain the same tone for a long period of time
to be successful with audio books and you must control your voice, tell a
story, be more than one voice. Look for 'Text Book Publishing Companies' like
Audiopub.work (not for profit company).
I hope this list helps your search for new places to look
for Voice Over jobs. Leave a comment if you would like to see more lists like
